Structural typographic discipline
Blank Page constructs physical publications and institutional monographs through rigorous geometric subtraction. We replace decorative trend styling with deliberate spatial architecture.
The anatomy of subtraction
Our practice stems from mid-century Swiss graphic tradition, prioritizing proportion and typographic clarity over contemporary styling. Every layout originates from a mathematically calculated grid rather than arbitrary software presets.
We eliminate ornamental margins, redundant decorative lines, and synthetic gradients. What remains is an authoritative dialogue between heavy uncoated paper stock, black letterpress ink, and uncompromised negative space.
Four deliberate stages
Grid architecture
Stock specification
Typesetting cadence
Press supervision
We draft bespoke proportional matrices directly calibrated to book trim dimensions, defining strict typographic hierarchy and column tensions before setting any text.
Direct sourcing of uncoated archival cotton papers from historical European mills, testing tactile grain weights, bulk densities, and natural light absorption.
Manual kerning and micro-typographic balancing across full volume spreads, securing consistent rhythm and rigorous baseline alignment across continuous folios.
On-site press checks at our Zurich print partner, overseeing ink density curves, binding thread tensions, and cold-glue binding integrity.
Four publications per year
To maintain uncompromising typographic attention across all production steps, the atelier principal directly leads every engagement without delegation or dilution.
